Busy Long weekend.

This weekend was a long weekend for us, it's was to commemorate ANZAC day. So everyone had Friday off, and as such we decided to head away on Thursday night and make the most of it. Our onsite Van is in St.Leonards which is about one hou and 40 minutes drive from us, so we ha dinner and packed the car and headed off..... just as we were about to leave Ms 16 and Master 13 decided they would stay home, grrrr @ them! And so it was just "The Bloke, Master 6 and myself. At least it was peaceful. We arrived at about 9.30pm and Master 6 went right to bed, while I unpacked and got us set up for our weekend.

Day one: Friday 25th April 2008.

As usual we woke up early, well, it all reality it was a sleep in for us, 7.45am and had reakfast and then did our usual thing, a brisk early morning walk along the beach, I mean why have a beachside place if you don't walk the beach?! As we were walking Master 6 told us about how a "real Soldier came to school the day before to talk about Anzac day" and so we are always eager to encourage his learning asked "What does Anazac Day mean?" he explained what he'd understopod and was right on and then we asked "Was the soldier in normal clothes or in a uniform?" and he told us excatly what the soldier was wearing. He said he'd like to go and see real soldiers march and so The Bloke, quick as a wink said "hey let's go to Queenscliff to the fort and see if there is an Anzac day parade on" and so within 10 minutes we were in the car cruising to Queenscliff.

http://www.queenscliffe.vic.gov.au/Page/Page.asp?Page_Id=273. which is about 20 minutes drive from St Leonards.

We arrived just as everyone was lining up to start the parade through town so we watched that and then headed back to the Fort to hear the service. We do this each year I feel that it keeps me a little bit closer to my father who passed away 16 yrs ago last week. The only problem is each time I hear the bugeler play "The Last post" I get all teary because they played that at Dad's funeral. So yeah I had a sook!

After the sevice was finished we continued on our way to Point Lonsdale. http://www.walkabout.com.au/locations/VICPointLonsdale.shtml

We had a look at the Lighthouse and took lots of photos of the cliffs in the area which are really weird and wonderful shapes and sizes, and so we hopefully got something good enough to use for art class stuff. We were wandering aroud there for so long that when Master 6 asked for a drink and we looked at the time it was already 12.45 pm, Opps! So we had drinks and he had an icecream before we headed back to the caravan and lunch. In the afternoon we took our Beach stroll.

Day two: Saturday 26th April.

Now here's a little secret you won't know yet, I love second hand shops, I love to trawl them looking for bargains and most recently for paintings in frames that I can recycle... I am trying to talk The Bloke into learning picture framing, so we can make our own, I'll let you know how I go with that plan. I even borrowed a book from the library to learn how it's done. So this morning we visited two second hand shops and I didn't get anything I wanted but It was a good way to waste some time. We were on the way to Geelong http://www.geelongcity.vic.gov.au/ to have a look at the Volkswagen dealership, the Bloke needs a new car and so we had to keep Master 6 happy with a promise of mcdonald's for lunch. (Doesn't take much to keep him happy.) and on the way we stopped at the Art shop, so I could see how much their pastels were selling for. I loved the box in he window but for $900.00 I just couldn't justify that even if I DID have $900.00. So off to the Car yard, we went, we saw, we conqured and we got Master 6 out before he got too bored... onto Macca's.

Then back home to "The Love Shack" as we so fondly call our home away from home. We spent a lazy afternoon watching the football and I got some precious drawing done, much needed, I've been putting it off telling myself (Don't you hate that internal self talk!!) "you can't draw!" Well d'uh, tat's why I am doing this course! So I gave myself permission to do really bad stuff because I MA just learning, and in the end it didn't turn out too badly at all.. considering I was drawing in the book upside down, (Apprently this turns off the left side of your brain and allows your right to take over and do "supposedly" better work!!) I must confess the man in my drawing looked almost as good/bad which ever you want to say as Picasso's drawing, but the I do not like picasso so I'll say as Bad as......

Saturday night we had a carpet picnic with fish n chips and fresh crusty bread, yummy!! It rained too so we locked up and turned on the heater creating a cozy little nest!

Day three: Sunday 27th April

Today we have to go home, so we always pack everything away and give the place a thorough cleaning, because we don't want ants or whatever o come while we're away. We vaccumed and washed floors and packed away all the boogies boards and sun umberella's because summer is definately over and we won't be using those for a while now. We didn't do our beach walk this morning because we were busy packing up to go home. We had arranged to go and see the Bloke's mother on the way home she is recovering from a broken ankle and so we changed her smoke dector batteries and cheaked a few other things on the way home. We got home at about 2.00pm and then went out to do the weekly shopping and home again by 3.30 pm.

Today Monday the biys are home from school, they have a curriculm day and so they're busy playing Wii!
